XING, one of the leading professional platforms in the German-speaking market, is undergoing a major strategic transformation. The company is repositioning itself as a jobs-first network, reflecting the rapid changes in today’s labor market while still holding on to its core idea of professional networking.

The shift is supported by a redesigned homepage and app, giving the platform a more modern look and feel. With this move, XING is responding to major trends such as demographic change and the shortage of skilled workers. Thomas Kindler, Managing Director of XING, said the market has increasingly become employee-driven, giving workers more choice than ever before. Julia Schwendner echoed this view during a keynote at the XING News Summer Festival, underscoring the company’s new direction.

At the center of the strategy is an expanded job marketplace designed to help users not only find the right role, but also get discovered by employers. A range of new tools, including personalized job search and a resume generator, is intended to make the application process much easier. The integration of around 250 experts and insiders who provide advice and articles on jobs and careers also signals XING’s broader ambitions.

Feedback from the test phase, which involved 25 percent of members, has been positive. According to the company, traffic in the jobs section doubled, while applications for top listings increased by roughly four times. These figures suggest that members are responding well to the stronger emphasis on career opportunities.

Despite the sharper focus on jobs, XING says networking remains a core part of the platform. Contacts and key networking features are still available under the “Network” section in the new navigation.

The repositioning marks the beginning of a broader transformation for XING. The company aims to continue evolving its platform to better serve users as the world of work changes.
